Research project seminar: Ethical and legal issues in telemedicine

In a time of rapid and digital technological progress, the procedures, diagnostic and therapeutic options in the medical field are also expanding. In addition to ongoing scientific progress, digital services are also becoming increasingly available: e.g. video consultations in general practitioner or specialist care, support systems during surgeries ("robotic arm") as well as projects and studies on the development and acceptance of online rehabilitation. This seminar will primarily deal with the emerging tension between ethical and legal issues in the field of "telemedicine", focusing on various steps from diagnosis to therapy and rehabilitation. The term "telemedicine" is itself the focus of a critical debate. CELLS is currently involved in the EU Horizon-funded project "PREFERABLE II", which aims to address ethical, social and legal issues in telemedicine as well as the actual development of live remote rehabilitation training. Questions from the project work will influence the seminar content in order to provide students with a practical scientific impression of this field of research.
