Dana Kretschmer-Konzal is a South African qualified intellectual property lawyer. She is pursuing her PhD in Philosophy and Law, focusing on the ethics of patenting genetic material.

Dana holds undergraduate degrees in Science (Microbiology) and Law from Rhodes University (South Africa), as well as an LLM (Innovation, Technology and the Law) and MBA, both from Edinburgh University. She qualified as a lawyer in South Africa in 2005 and worked at the law firms Spoor & Fisher and Webber Wentzel in South Africa as an intellectual property lawyer. Dana was also a fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property before moving to Germany.
